Senior Account Executive

  • Shelton Group is the nation's leading marketing communications firm focused exclusively on energy efficiency and sustainability. We are looking for a sharp self-starter who is comfortable working with a healthy level of ambiguity and is capable of bringing order to what some people may view as chaos. The ideal candidate will have five plus years experience in marketing communications, preferably with a full service advertising or marketing communications firm, the ability to manage coordination of a lot of deadlines and deliverables at once, excellent verbal and written communications skills, a lot of good old-fashioned common sense, a good head for business and a four-year degree, preferably in marketing, communications or business. The position requires a solutions-driven individual capable of seeing the big picture without losing sight of details. Experience with B2B marketing, building products, energy efficiency and/or environmental sustainability is a plus.

The position requires a solutions-driven individual capable of seeing the big picture without losing sight of details. He or she should be comfortable developing and moving forward with plans despite ambiguity, and the ability to lead and direct a team of account/project managers is a must. The account director must also instill confidence to clients, proficiently manage financial projections, and organically grow the business.

Senior Copywriter

  • Are you looking for a writing job you can really pour your heart and soul into?

Shelton Group—the nation’s leading marketing communications agency entirely focused in the energy and environment space—is seeking a talented senior copywriter. We’re looking for a critical thinker with a creative flair for storytelling and a journalistic approach to content development.

As our senior copywriter, you’ll enjoy a highly collaborative working environment that involves interacting with both the creative and the account departments during all stages of project development. Your ability to give feedback and guidance to freelance and junior writers is also critical.

What’s in it for you? For starters, our office is a rewarding place to work—you’ll be front and center in the effort to make our planet a better place. And you’ll be doing big things for top clients across the country, including household names from the Fortune 500. But we’re located in the historic heart of Knoxville, Tennessee, just minutes from the Great Smoky Mountains, so you’ll enjoy all the perks of city life with a low cost of living and easy access to a pretty spectacular natural environment.

If this position sounds like a good fit for you, please submit your resume, three writing samples that demonstrate your range, and a cover letter that sums up your writing experience and explains why you think you’d be a good fit for this job—we’d like to get a glimpse of your personality and talents on the page. (For writing samples that come from a collaborative environment such as an advertising agency, be prepared to explain your role in conceiving and producing the content.)

    Job Requirements:

    • This is a full-time, in-house position. No freelancers, please.
    • You must have at least five years’ experience in an agency environment or other professional writing position.
    • You must be flexible, self-directed, curious, and comfortable in a deadline-oriented environment.
    • You must be able to research and find information effectively without direction.
    • Your ability to grasp, interpret and organize complex information is just as important as the aptitude for crafting compelling content. Can you take a broad concept and turn it into a persuasive ten-page white paper or a compelling tweet depending on the client’s needs?
    • Experience in energy efficiency or sustainability is not required, but is a plus.

(Required fields are marked with an asterisk.)

  • Please merge writing samples into a single file before uploading.
